Before you start

Do I need prior production experience?

No. The studio is built so you can start from a ready-made starting point and go deeper gradually. If you come from another application you will find the same concepts; the switching page spells out what carries over.

Do I need a microphone or an audio interface?

No. A laptop and its built-in microphone will get you to a real song. Better gear makes a cleaner recording; it does not make a better song.

What is the difference between the browser and the app?

The same software, two ways in. In the browser there is nothing to install. In the version installed on your PC there is no perceptible latency when recording, you can load your plug-ins, and song separation works without internet too.

Does it work on a Mac?

In the browser, yes. A Mac application does not exist today, and we would rather write that than say 'coming soon'.

What language is the studio in?

The studio was written in Hebrew first. English is available for part of the interface and is still being extended, so some menus you meet may still be in Hebrew.

Can I work without internet?

The PC application works after installation even without a connection. Projects sit on your disk.

Projects and files

Where are my recordings saved?

In the project folder, created when you gave the song a name. Everything that belongs to one song sits in one place, so backing up means copying one folder.

What if the studio freezes midway?

Saving runs all the time and keeps a version history. You lose seconds, not an evening. The recovered version is offered when you reopen.

Can I take the audio into other software?

Always. Export stems and you get ordinary WAV files with sensible names. Nothing you create here is locked in here.

Will an old project open in a new version?

Yes, and it is a hard rule. A project created in an earlier version opens in the next one.

Can I open a project on another computer?

Copy the folder and it opens. There is no automatic cloud backup today — projects sit with you, and backing up means copying a folder to a drive or to a service you already use.

Hardware and plug-ins

My microphone isn't in the list

Almost always the operating system hasn't granted permission yet. In Windows it is Settings › Privacy › Microphone, and in the browser it is the permission prompt that appeared on entry. Then refresh.

There is a delay between playing and hearing

That is latency, and it is naturally higher in the browser. It is the best reason to install the desktop version: there it drops to a level you cannot perceive, and you can tune it in the audio settings.

Will my plug-ins work?

Yes, in the version installed on your PC — VST3 and CLAP plug-ins. A plug-in that misbehaves cannot stop the software from opening.

Will a keyboard work?

Connect it and play. On the common controllers the buttons and pads also map themselves.

Can I use a control surface with faders?

Not today. Connected keyboards and controllers work, but a surface with motorised faders is not supported yet.

Account, money and privacy

Do I need an account?

To enter the studio — yes. You can read this information site with nothing.

Where does my music go?

Nowhere. A project's audio stays with you. Cloud backup is something you switch on by hand, and it is the only thing that uploads a project.

What do you collect?

Never your audio or your project contents — they do not leave your computer. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

I changed computers and access is stuck

Sign out on the old computer, or release access from the account page. If the old computer is no longer yours, write to us and it takes minutes.

How much does it cost?

There are two plans: Studio for individuals, and Education for classrooms and institutions. The full detail is on the Pricing page.
